The Palace of Versailles and Montmartre

Wednesday had us boarding a commuter rail train for a 45 minute ride to Versailles

In the morning we toured the massive gardens behind the palace

After a lunch in a Tea House on the garden grounds, we hiked back up to the Palace for a guided tour of the Palace

After our tour of the Palace, we returned to Paris in the late afternoon, and took the Metro to the Montmartre section of the city.

We climbed the hill to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

After a rest at the top,  we continued to the square on top of the hill behind the church.

The square was packed with artist stalls....

And the alleyways packed with shops.

After dinner in a local restaurant, we returned to our hotel via the metro.
